The NFL has teamed up with the Urology Care Foundation to raise awareness about the second-leading cause of cancer death among men through the Know Your Stats About Prostate Cancer® campaign. This year at Super Bowl XLVII, pro football legends Mike Haynes, LaVar Arrington, and Marcus Allen; prostate cancer survivors; and fans took the pledge to tackle this disease that affects one in six American men. Since prostate cancer is most treatable when caught early, the best defense is to know your risk and talk to your doctor about prostate cancer testing. Encouraging others to do the same can help save lives.
Visit http://www.knowyourstats.org/ to sign the pledge to fight prostate cancer, and send a message to football fans that will make a difference in the lives of the 200,000 men that will be diagnosed this year.
Join the Team and pledge to:
- Know your risk or encourage men over 40 in your life to know their risk (Men with a family history and African American men have an increased risk.)
- Talk to your doctor or encourage men over 40 in your life to talk to a doctor about prostate cancer testing.
- Raise awareness (You can spread the word on Facebook, Twitter or in your community!)
- Support prostate cancer research.
