On Super Bowl Saturday, prior to Super Bowl 50, fans were treated to a free Legends on the Runway fashion show at the NFL Shop located inside of the Moscone Center West in San Francisco. NFL Legends and current NFL players, along with their significant others and children, came together to celebrate football, family, fashion, and philanthropy.
Dawn Neufeld, wife of NFL Legend Ryan Neufeld (1999-2010) and member of the Off the Field Players’ Wives Association hosted the lunchtime standing-room only event.
Legends on the Runway opened with NFL Legend and three-time Super Bowl champion, former Raiders tackle Henry Lawrence singing the National Anthem.
Fans flanked both sides of the runway to get an up close look at the models that included: Hall of Famers quarterback Steve Young (49ers), running back Jerome Bettis (Steelers), wide receiver Tim Brown (Raiders) and running back Tony Dorsett (Cowboys) along with their wives and children. Former New York Giants Super Bowl champions, running backs Rodney Hampton and Lewis Tillman walked the runway with their wives and current NFL players, defensive end Michael Purcell (49ers), fullback Marcel Reece (Raiders), and linebacker Lorenzo Alexander (Raiders) and their families strutted down the runway as well.
An energetic and enthusiastic crowd cheered loudly as Steve Young and family did the popular ‘dabbed on them’ dance down the runway. Another fan-favorite moment was had when toddler and infant-aged children of NFL players warmed the hearts of attendees with impromptu dancing and outbursts of laughter.
Apparel for the Legends of the Runway show was provided by GIII Sports by Carl Banks, owned by NFL Legend and Super Bowl champion, former Giants linebacker Carl Banks who took part in the show’s finale walk.
Immediately following the show, several of the NFL players took to the NFL Shop showroom floor acting as stylists to help fans get game-day ready.
Legends of the Runway was co-presented by NFL Player Engagement, the NFL Legends Community, NFL Consumer Products, and the Off the Field Players’ Wives Association. The NFL Player Care Foundation and Sophie’s Place/Steve Young’s Forever Young Foundation were the event’s beneficiaries.
