Key Football Season Security Reminders
Traffic Stops and Travel Reminders:
- Wear your seatbelt and ensure that your Driver’s License is current and ALWAYS have it with you if you are driving a vehicle.
- Ways to avoid being cited by police for “Failing to have Proof of Insurance”: Make sure that your vehicle insurance, registration, and insurance card are current and accessible to you in your vehicle in case you are stopped by police.
- Keep these documents in a secure place, like a plastic baggie, so they can be easily found if you encounter police as a result of a traffic stop.
- Pay all traffic citations as well as liens (e.g. child support, court fees/fines, etc).
- Failing to keep up on these issues can lead to warrants and possible criminal action.
- Make sure ALL child support payments are on time. Lapses could cause a refusal of entry into Canada.
- If you or your team plans to travel outside the US, you must have a valid US Passport or VISA. Outstanding child support, liens or warrants, or certain criminal convictions may preclude you from obtaining a Passport or VISA.
- Be proactive – speak with your team personnel if you have questions.
Home Safety Reminders:
- Consider installing motion control lights outside of your home, interior lights, and/or timers when you are away from home.
- Secure your home when you aren’t there, especially when you are traveling with your team or on your own.
- If you are not going to be home for an extended period of time, make sure that you take care of your mail and newspapers. (e.g. have someone pick them up and keep them while you are gone, or make arrangements with your mail/news carrier to stop delivery service while you are away.)
- Have a home security survey done! It’s free if you are an NFL player.
