The National Football League Career Transition Program (CTP) - the first of its kind in professional sports - takes place at Georgia Tech University. The program educates players in transition about the resources and opportunities available to them in their advancement to second careers of their choosing. Professors, business leaders, and former players address the critical success factors that are important in the transition to life after football. Additionally, players are educated about resources available to them in their local communities.
The NFL Career Transition Program provides a mix of academic topics, success stories through guest speakers, and practical application. Attendees participate in seminars covering the Myers-Briggs assessment, personal finance, a realistic job preview of the transition process, personal branding, personal health and well-being, and communication and networking skills.
The NFL Career Transition Program is the first of a number of custom services designed to help former NFL players meet the opportunities and challenges of a post-football experience.
Player Perspective:
“The NFL Transition Program did a great job with providing the necessary tools to help me through my transition from the football field to the business field. I recommend players to take advantage of this program to help you develop and utilize skill sets that will be beneficial to you in that next venture.”
- Mark Bradley, 5-year NFL veteran
“Clark Kent is still Superman, he just doesn’t have on the cape. CTP taught me not only to be proud of my experiences in the National Football League, but to be able to use those skills to adapt to the world in which we must survive when those playing days are over.”
- Alge Crumpler, 10-year NFL veteran
“This is a truly awesome program that I would recommend to each and every player facing the inevitable voluntary or involuntary retirement. It was a priceless weekend that allowed every player in the room to feel that locker room chemistry once again. It was an educational and therapeutic first step into our next journey, in which we will now tackle the business world.”
- Corey Mays, 5-year NFL veteran
