1,911 yards, average of 8.2 yards per carry, and a score of 35 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, these are not my flag football stats. These are the incredible stats of 9 year old peewee tackle football player Sam Gordon. Did I also mention Sam is a girl?!  And this was her first year of play?! Simply impressive!

Miss Gordon plays in an all-boys tackle football league in Utah and she isn’t a kicker like most female football players. She was made starting quarterback after she tested faster than the boys during her agility and speed drills. The video below features coverage of her plays and making tackles, showing off her fearless nature. The girl can take a hit!

"I wanted to prove girls can play [football]. It's not just a boys' sport," she told ESPN.

Sam started her athletic career playing soccer and switched to football after watching BYU games with her dad, Brent, who posted the VIDEO

After becoming an Internet sensation, Gordon was featured on a Wheaties Box and had the opportunity to practice with her favorite NFL team, the 49er’s.

Gordon was also invited to attend this year’s Super Bowl by NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell. "[Goodell] thinks she is an inspirational story for football, youth football, and the participation of girls in sports," said NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello.

An inspiration she is! Touchdown for women everywhere!
