On February 14th – 17th, 2013 NFLPE and the NCAA will host the third annual NFL-NCAA Life Skills Education & Professional Development Summit (Summit) in Charlotte, NC. The Summit is designed to provide relevant, effective, and practical training and professional development opportunities to enhance the ability of athletics professionals to serve student-athletes in the areas of life skills and student-athlete development. In attendance will be Directors of Player Engagement from various NFL teams and Life Skills/Player Development Directors from several NCAA member institutions. More than 80% of the participants surveyed from last year’s Summit said they walked away with a better understanding of how to break down barriers when addressing personal issues of athletes and greatly benefited from the best practices discussions as well as networking.
The Summit will also feature two days of personal and professional development for local college student-athletes. The student-athletes will participate in panel discussions, case studies, hot topic discussions, and have the opportunity to network and share campus experiences with their peers. Some of the many things to be discussed include: managing relationships, drugs and alcohol, diversity and inclusion, and impacting others through personal leadership. Student-athletes from various schools within the region such as Clemson, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Virginia, Georgia State, Georgia, Duke, Notre Dame, and more will take part in this dynamic event.
The NFL Player Engagement Department is very excited to host the Summit for the third consecutive year and we look forward to equipping our young adults and Player Development professionals with the proper tools to make a difference in today’s world.
