Calling all rising senior student-athletes! The National Football League and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania will be holding the third annual NFL-Wharton Prep Leadership program for student-athletes entering their senior year of high school.
The program, held from June 16-19, 2014, will provide rising seniors with professional and athletic direction that will surely set themselves apart from their peers! Prospective student-athletes are encouraged to apply before the program deadline of April 25, 2014. Male and female student-athletes who will be high school seniors in the 2014-2015 school year may apply for the program at the Wharton Sports Business Initiative website (www.whartonsportsbiz.org).
The NFL-Wharton Prep Leadership Program provides instruction, training, and personal development through group sessions, panels, and lectures by Wharton professors and NFL executives. “We are thrilled to again partner with the National Football League to offer the 3rd annual NFL-Wharton Prep Leadership program. This selective program is for elite male and female student-athletes participating in all sports that display outstanding leadership potential both in the classroom and on the athletic field,” said Scott Rosner, Practice Associate Professor and Faculty Associate Director, Wharton Sports Business Initiative.
For the 2014 program, thirty six (36) student-athletes will be selected to participate on-campus at the Wharton School. Participants will be selected based on their academic transcript, athletic endeavors, leadership, recommendations, and personal essays. A minimum First Team All-Conference or All-County/State performance in athletics is required.
Accepted participants will be exposed to the highest level of sports and business knowledge in the industry. Rosner believes “the rigorous coursework, breakout groups and panels provide a formal foundation of leadership training for the next generation of leaders as they prepare for college and life”. A sample list of topics covered during the program include: basics of leadership, professional development, career development, financial education, basics of management, and total wellness.
