National Event Connects NFL Players to New Career Opportunities

Former NFL players can have up to eight first interviews with top employers, meet with leading franchises and connect with entrepreneurial resources on March 24-25 at Pizza Hut World Headquarters in Plano, Texas.  Ascending Athletes is partnering with The Winston Group for a Business Symposium that will provide a unique opportunity for former players to explore opportunities in their next careers.

Lamonte Winston, the Director of Player Engagement for the Oakland Raiders, believes that athletes attending this event should understand that “this is a chance to control the next step in your career.” Athletes have an opportunity to reinvent their careers after their lives in pro sports. This Business Symposium gives attendees the opportunity to build their resumes, meet with select companies and participate in mock interviews.

“The Ascending Athletes event is a great opportunity for former and current NFL-ers to meet with a wide variety of excellent companies and interview with them. Ascending Athletes also provided us with much needed coaching on how to interview effectively. The event featured some excellent speakers that are highly successful and inspirational businessmen,” stated former NFL player, Jamie Silva.

Ray Mickens, an 11-year NFL veteran, explained, “At this event I networked and listened to top franchises about strategies that were very helpful to my business.  Being able to talk with other entrepreneurs and discuss ideas and issues will continue to be beneficial as I grow.”

Ryan Moats, former Philadelphia Eagle and Houston Texans’ running back, is passionate about former players taking advantage of this unique opportunity.  "We all know the sport is not a race built only with physical attributes, but mental skill sets that allowed you to play at a high level in the NFL,” stated Moats. “NFL athletes are a rare breed with unique skills to offer businesses as we continue to grow after leaving the sport. This event helps attendees approach their new careers in a smarter, stronger and more powerful way. I encourage any NFL-er to invest in himself because it will pay benefits down the road in terms of your future career."

Ascending Athletes will have top national employers -- such as Johnson & Johnson, Stryker, State Farm and many more -- interviewing at the Business Symposium in March.  “We are very excited about our participating employers, franchises and entrepreneurial resources for this Symposium,” stated Andy Schroeder, President of Ascending Athletes.  “We are grateful for Pizza Hut hosting this event.  This is going to be our biggest and best event yet.”
