This week’s Faith, Family, & Football feature is: Scott Galbraith, Former Redskin, Cowboy, Brown, Packer.
PE: Why is Faith important to you?
Galbraith: Simply put, My Faith gives me HOPE. If our future is not secured and satisfied by God then we are going to be excessively anxious. This results either in paralyzing fear or in self-managed, greedy control. We end up thinking about ourselves, our future, our problems and our potential, and that keeps us from loving. In other words, hope is the birthplace of Christian self-sacrificing love.
PE: Tell us about your Family and the impact they’ve had on your life.
Galbraith: I'm an S-O-B! (Son of a Bishop - LOL!!) Do I have to say more? Faith wasn’t a part of my family’s life; it was our life growing up. It was very difficult for my brother and sisters to sometimes separate the "business of church" from "the work of the church!" But we made it thru! God be praised!
PE: What does being a father mean to you?
Galbraith: My best friend, PERIOD! Watching him for so many years lead people has been one of the greatest joys in my life.
PE: How has your faith and family helped you develop off the field?
Galbraith: Life is filled with "ups & downs." Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved. My faith and my family have always given the courage to "EMBRACE" the difficult times in my life. For that I feel I'm truly blessed.
PE: How do you balance Faith, Family, and Football?
Galbraith: My father always taught us, "God, family, work. Divide your day accordingly. GOD 1st, you'll need Him for the other two stops."
PE: What advice would you give to student athletes and current players in regards to Faith, Family, and Football?
Galbraith: These are the words that hang on the door of my office. "Restlessness and discontent are the first necessities of progress.
